This is a strange place. Situated East of Briones Reservoir, it was apparently once intended to be an EBMUD trail system. But the official gates are all locked, and within there are forgotten picinc benches and port-o-pottys. A Rambler's Guide map shows the old routes.

 

  

Curious for something new, I want to check it out, even though I'm probably trespassing.

 

  

 

 

  

The fire roads are still maintained in this waist-high grass.

 

  

Trying to find the old footpaths is another story, as they are almost completely reclaimed by nature.

 

  

Look closely and you will see purple and yellow wildflowers in giant patches.
