Here is another spectacular hike going north to the Benettville Townsite.

 

  

The trail turns to a creek!.

 

  

Then a snowy waterfall drainage.

 

  

Apparently the modern Tioga Pass was built to serve this mining proposition, replacing the older Mono Pass.

  

  

60,000 dollars in 1870's money cutting the pass and hauling all this equipment up, and the mine was a bust.

 

  

  

Two buildings remain of the townsite, which were restored in the early 90's (the doors work!).
